Intrepid explorer James Alexander, Group Head
of Print Solutions at News International, set out to conquer the ice
pack of central Greenland and raise £5,000 for Bag Books.
He and friend Nick
Anderson spent 24 days, unsupported, hauling food, fuel and equipment
the 330 miles from Tasiilaq Ammassalik on the east
coast to Kangerlussuaq Sondre Strømfjord in
the west.
The third member of the
expedition was Bag Books' own Desmond.
They braved
temperatures down to minus 40 degrees (both Fahrenheit and Celsius). As
well as surviving the extreme weather conditions, they encountered
Polar Bears and had to negotiate large crevasses as they make their way
onto the ice cap.
