Bag Books'
multi-sensory story-packs help those with the most profound
intellectual impairments to enjoy learning and self-expression.
You can think of
story-packs as books which can be enjoyed without being
understood. They are told interactively, through actions and
emotions rather than words and pictures, so they are perfect for anyone
with a very low developmental age.
Story-packs are
large, comprising a series of unusual objects and materials to
experience, and are hand-made to maintain the highest standards of
aesthetic quality and strength. We know that, for the £230 it
costs us to make a story-pack for a special school, 23 children are
given a chance to learn and communicate, through the magic of stories.
Profound learning
disabilities throw up incredible barriers for these very special
children and adults: barriers which can never be entirely broken down,
but which Bag Books helps them reach through, to touch the world beyond.
It is only though
charitable support that Bag Books can only continue putting smiles on
the faces of these special children, young people and adults.
We aim to enhance
their routine of daily care, to enable them to experience new
activities and exciting emotions - all through the magic of stories.
